May 28th, 2007 Battleday army selections

Well, having only half my planned Imperial Gaurd troops built and painted, it looks like you'll be seeing Marines, yet again.

Too bad they don't have the ability to ally anymore, like in 2nd edition.

Sigh, so do I feel like taking my Deathwing out for one last hurrah, not that the new Dark Angels Codes is deprecating my entire list?  Or do I want to play my fast attack army, yet again?

    We shall see...

    The Results of the Battle!

    Morning all,

It ending up being a Eldar 2000pts verus a allied force of 1000pts each for Chaos and Imperials. The Imps barricaded themselves into the 2 tallest buildings at the far end of the city block. From there they proceded to bombard the attacking Eldar into oblivion, Crying

The Chaos meanwhile held their building and advanced to the center taking Pinehill from a unit of Shining Spears, at the center of the battlefield. Then advancing again to assualt the Wraithlord. An epic battle ensued at this location with support from the 2nd Shining Spears unit. All that was left of this unit after the Chaos's 37 million dice rolls was the exarch. From then on he used his Withdraw to continually assault this unit.

In the end the Eldar were left with 2 Falcons that had lost their main weapons. Half a unit of Pathfinders. The Eldar general made a right mess of using the Pathfinder units. In fact they didn't do anything but get bombarded and assualted to hell. And the one exarch from the Shining Spears.

Chaos & Imperials Vs Eldar: Eldar lost in a all out fight to the death in a bombed out Imperial City.

    The photos:

    The Beginning

More photos, some are pretty bad as they were taken by a Cell phone camra. Must remember to recharge batteries night before battle.

Re: The Results of the Battle!

You know, I truly believe that your army selection was the strongest I've seen to date and once you pilot it a few times you will have more success with it.

I also have to admit that there were two key things working against you.

    1) I was playing Static Imperial Guard.  The perfect compliment to Static IG is CC marines, which is exactly what showed up.  Khorne supported by artillery is brutal.

     2) The board was 4'x8' with quarters as deployment zones.  This meant that your CC army had to travel an extra 12" to even reach the IG lines.  I'm not saying you didn't make a horrendous decision with your Harliquin deployment and subsequent movement, but the table was definitely tilted uphill for you.
